Emergency Communications

Caseworkers help families send emergency messages regarding death or serious illness and provide verifications to help military commanders make emergency leave decisions.
In Benton, Buchanan, Cedar, Delaware, Iowa, Linn, Johnson, Jones, and Washington counties call (319) 393-3500 during business hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. or 1-800-696-3873 after hours for immediate assistance.
In Black Hawk, Bremer, Butler, Chickasaw, Fayette and Grundy counties call (319) 234-6831 for 24 hour assistance.

Secure Emergency Financial Assistance
|
|
The Red Cross collaborates with military aid societies to provide financial assistance to military members and their families when a crisis arises. The Grant Wood Area Chapter can help veterans with assistance paying bills, such as utilities or rent. This is a one-time offer for veterans. If you need assistance, please call (319) 393-3500

Veteran’s Services
|

|
Red Cross workers can assist veterans with advocacy, information about benefits and referrals to community resources. Red Cross volunteers also serve veterans at the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City.
