WATERLOO - Every heartbeat counts when you’re trying to resuscitate someone. For this reason the Hawkeye Chapter of the American Red Cross invites you to celebrate Red Cross Month at our community education event. Mark your calendar and bring a friend to the Chapter's 19th annual community Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training.
CPR Sunday is March 7, 2010 at the UNI Wellness & Recreation Center. The event moves the Hawkeye Chapter closer to the goal of having one person in each northeast Iowa household certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Deeply discounted rates are offered on this day only.
The Red Cross plans to certify or recertify area residents in Adult CPR and Automated External Defibrillation (AED), as well as First Aid. The Hawkeye Chapter, business sponsors, many volunteers, and instructors (certified by the Red Cross) come together to make this mass training event possible.
New this year is the CPR Made Simple course. CPR Made Simple condenses all the skills in a certified CPR course into one hour. It quick and even more affordable option for participants that do not need to receive certification for work or school.
Health & Safety Services Director, Chris Roberts said, “The more people who know this life saving technique, the better chance your family members, friends and co-workers have of surviving a sudden emergency. CPR Sunday allows the Hawkeye Chapter to offer training to a large number of community members in minimal time and at a reduced cost.”
